Using the Ordinary for Extraordinary

“For You created my inner most being, You knitted me together in my mother’s womb. I praise You because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; wonderful are Your works and my soul knows it very well.” Ps 139:13-14

God uses ordinary people to do extraordinary things! If you don’t believe me, read your Bible first and then your history books! In the next few weeks we will take a look at some of the elements that turn ordinary into extraordinary, why they should be a part of our daily lives and are how they will serve to further His Kingdom!

In the meantime, never forget you were created by HIM and for HIM. What you are is God’s gift to you. What you do with that gift is your gift back to God!

“For you were called to freedom, brethren, only do not turn your freedom into an opportunity for the flesh; but through love, serve one another”
Galatians 5:13

God uses ordinary people to do extraordinary things! I believe one of the most powerful elements of turning “ordinary” into “extraordinary” is service. Every one of us can and should be intentional about serving others. I love this quote…”you don’t have to be great to serve, but you have to serve to be great”. Serving does not require advanced degrees in education or making 6 figures. It simply requires an awareness of others and a willingness to reach out.  Open your eyes and look around. Be intentional about helping others. Society has given it such titles as “Random Acts of Kindness” and “Paying It Forward”. God’s Word gives us:

  • the example of His Son Jesus Christ - “just as the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve…” Matthew 20:28

  • the command to follow in His steps - “You call me Teacher and Lord and you are right; for so I am. If I then, The Lord and the Teacher, washed your feet, you also ought to wash one another’s feet. For I gave you and example that you should do as I did to you.” John 13:13-15
